“What To Expect” Cast Covers REDBOOK Magazine

The stars of the upcoming movie, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, Brooklyn Decker and Anna Kendrick grace REDBOOK’s June cover.

In the interview, the stars open up about their experiences with relationships, marriage and motherhood.

See below for some highlights!

Did you have a time line in terms of when you thought you’d be married and have kids?

Cameron Diaz: I thought I was going to be married and have two children by the time I was 21. I think I felt I had to model my life after my mother’s. But then my career was starting to take off and there were still so many things I wanted to do. So that dream for me was shattered early on. After that I never put another time line on anything in my life.

What part of motherhood surprised you the most?

Jennifer Lopez: I remember after the babies were born, about seven to 10 days in, I was like, “What is going on with me?” I felt sad and depressed and thought the babies didn’t love me. I actually remember picking up the book [What to Expect When You're Expecting] to try to see what was happening to me, and it said how you have this huge hormonal drop about seven to 10 days after you give birth. It’s called the “baby blues.” But I just thought they didn’t like me!

There’s been a lot of talk about the new generation of dads-how hands-on they are. What do you think: Is it real, or is it hype?

Brooklyn Decker: I would hope I’m in a position where I have a guy who is going to be helping me all the way through-even when I’m moody and craving ice cream at 12 a.m. It didn’t take me long to know that Andy was the guy I was going to marry, and [what kind of dad he'd be] absolutely went through my mind when making that decision.

How does becoming a parent change your life?

Elizabeth Banks: I think the thing you always hear-but can’t really feel or believe-is how this little baby really does change your life. When you have children, it’s the entire focus of your life, but my capacity for joy has been opened up in a way I never thought possible.

Jennifer Lawrence Covers Glamour Magazine

Jennifer Lawrence graces the April cover of Glamour Magazine.

Inside the issue, the starlet talks about her role in the highly anticipated film The Hunger Games, discusses her workout and diet regimen, and comments on how she’s adjusted to becoming famous.

Check out what Jennifer shared with Glamour, below!

Her first thoughts about The Hunger Games being turned into a movie…

“When I heard they were making the movie, I was like, ‘oh, that’s nice –they’re going to ruin another great book.’ But then I met Gary [Ross, the director], and he was unbelievable and brilliant and genius.”

On taking on the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games

“I gave myself three days. I knew from reading the books that I loved The Hunger Games. I just didn’t know if it was worth changing my life for. I’m at a peaceful place right now. The people who used to ignore me at parties, now they’re nice to me and kissing my ass. But nobody’s staked outside my house. I wanted to make sure that when I said yes, I wouldn’t regret it. And I don’t regret it. I would have said no because I was scared, and then I would have been that bitter actress telling my grandkids, ‘I’m the one that turned it down.’”

On getting in shape and dieting…

“I hate saying,  ‘I like exercising.’ I want to punch people who say that in the face. But it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It’s like, ‘Here’s your trainer. This is what you can eat.’ I don’t diet. I do exercise! But I don’t diet. You can’t work when you’re hungry, you know?”

On adjusting to her life as a famous actress…

“Just recently I started letting myself eat things from the minibar. When we were kids, we would never open the minibar. A $6 Snickers bar? But the other day I was in a hotel and I was staring at a Snickers bar, and I finally just ate it. Then it was like something in me snapped. I opened all these drinks. I thought: I can do it now. Now I’m all grown-up. I can eat things from the minibar.”

Her take on life in the public eye…

“In some ways, it’s a hard life, but it’s a great professional life. I’m doing what I love, and then I get months and months of rest. I have a lot of money for a 21-year-old. I can’t stand it when actors complain.”

This issue of Glamour Magazine hits newsstands on March 6, 2012.
