Katy Perry debuted her ”Part of Me” music video yesterday, and told MTV that she had to do some training before her combat-themed shoot.
The singer revealed:
”I got on a meal plan. I’m still on that meal plan, although I cheat a little bit — I have to live! I got a fantastic person to work me out and get me into really good shape.”
Perry went on to explain that she performed a lot of her own stunts:
“On the actual base, I did a lot of things. I flipped girls, I learned how to fireman-carry. I know how to carry my weight a little bit more. One thing I can’t do, and I hope that there are other people out there that feel the same way, is climb a rope. Oh my gosh, it’s so hard to climb rope! It’s all about grip and arms. I tried five or six times on set, but I had to cheat that shot. My hands were shaking.”

Katy Perry is donating proceeds from her new single, Part of Me, to an arts charity.
After she debuted the song at the Grammy Awards last weekend, the song made its way into the top 10 list on iTunes.
With its popularity on the rise, Katy decided to take the profits and give them to the MusiCares Foundation.
She writes:
“My proceeds of Part Of Me from Itunes & others will go to one of my favorite charities for the arts, Musicares.”
MusiCares is a charity that assists struggling musicians.
What a great cause!

Russell Brand and Katy Perry did not have a prenup, meaning they’re each entitled to 50% of everything they earned during their 14-month marriage.
According to Forbes, Katy made $44 million over that time span, so Russell could earn a pretty penny in their divorce.
Surprisingly enough, the British comedian doesn’t want her money.
One source says:
“This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person).”
Russell’s lawyer filed final divorce papers on Tuesday, but the divorce won’t be made official until June 30th due to the 6 month waiting period.

Katy Perry hit the red carpet in the U.S. for the first time since announcing her split with Russell Brand.
Alongside her friend Markus Molinari, the singer posed for pics at an event for Givelove.org, which provides sustainable low-income solutions to Haiti earthquake victims.
Inside the soiree, Katy hung out in the VIP section. A source said:
“She was really tame. She was really just drinking a few drinks and chilling with her friends.”

Seems like a preview of what was to come…
Back in November, Russell Brand decided to record himself removing his wedding band…just a month prior to filing for divorce from Katy Perry.
At that time, the British comedian was preparing to head out on a U.S. college tour.
As he talked about learning ”first hand about sororities”, Russell slipped off the ring and said:
“I’m going to place this somewhere very, very safe for the next week.”

Following her split from Russell Brand, Katy Perry decided it would be in her best interest to not attend the People’s Choice awards tomorrow night.
She wrote on twitter:
“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed!”
Katy is in the running for seven awards this year, including Favorite Female Artist!

Proving rumors of trouble in paradise true, Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry in Los Angeles on Friday.
The comedian cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split.
He said in a statement:
“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
Katy and Russell spent the holidays apart this year, and were both photographed without their wedding rings.
The once lovey-dovey twosome tied the knot in October 2010 in a lavish ceremony at a luxury resort in northern India.

Katy Perry is the FIRST artist to have five number one hits from the same album top Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart, with the latest addition of “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F).”
Her other #1 songs include “Teenage Dream”, “California Gurls”, “Firework” and “E.T.”.
Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006-2007) and Lady Gaga’s The Fame (2009) held the previous record, reaching four number one singles each.
What a huge accomplishment!
