Jake Gyllenhaal Attends Berlin Film Festival Photocall

Jake Gyllenhall attended the International Jury Photo Call at the Berlin Film Festival on Thursday, held at the Grand Hyatt in Berlin, Germany.

The jury also includes director Anton Corbijn, Iranian writer/director Asghar Farhadi, French-Brit actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, French director Francois Ozon, Peace Prize-winning Algerian author Boualem Sansal, German singer and actress Barbara Sukowa, and director Mike Leigh, who watches over the jury.

During the press conference, Jake spoke of his excitement to be in Berlin:

“I was incredibly excited to be asked because I am a big fan of Mike Leigh. I loved his films when I was a young boy. Being in a room with a number of artists and just talking about other work, I consider it a privilege and honor to be part of it.”

Funny fact: upon arrival at the airport, Jake was greeted by festival director Dieter Kosslick, who offered him a bouquet of flowers.

How….romantic?

American Idol Contestant Falls Off Stage

Symone Black did a beautiful job singing “(Sittin On’) the Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding, but it’s what happened after her performance that left the judges stunned.

As she was talking to Randy Jackson, the 16-year-old stumbled, lost her balance, fell off stage and hit her head.

Steven Tyler belted out in horror:

“F-k man! She hit her head!”

Executive producer of the show, Nigel Lythgoe, and a medic rushed to help Symone.

The fall is going to be further addressed on Thursday’s episode of AI.

Kate Middleton Makes First Solo Appearance In London

Last night, the Duchess of Cambridge attended a private viewing of portraits by the late Lucian Feud at the National Portraight Gallery in London.

Kate looked stylish in a tweed dress by Jesire, finishing off her look with a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes.

This was her first official solo royal appearance without her husband, Prince William, who is doing a search-and-rescue training in the Falkland Islands.

Photographer Mary McCartney, daughter of music legend Sir Paul McCartney, was also at the event and told the Daily Mail Kate complimented her work:

“It made me blush but I was incredibly flattered. It is refreshing having her here. It is so exciting that she has become involved.”

With Prince William away, the royal couple will be spending their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple apart. Kate is set to travel to Liverpool to visit The Brink (an alcohol free bar linked to Action on Addiction, which she is a supporter of), as well as the Ronald McDonald house at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
